Legacy students were invited to learn more about technology and computer science at the "I Heart Tech" conference Thursday hosted by Adobe in Lehi. They had opportunities to attend workshops focused on science, technology, engineering, art and math, or STEAM.
Robotics was a favorite workshop for Legacy students. They were challenged to program an Mbot robot to travel on a surface, but stop when it hit a black line. Then they had to figure out how to change the code and reprogram the robot to follow a curving black line from one point to another. Some students were discouraged when their robot didn't respond as expected, but with perseverance they were able to program the robots correctly.
One presenter left us with this profound advice, “When I hire people, I look for competence, integrity, work ethic and problem solving. Those are things under your control.”
