The U.S. History class has been studying the Holocaust, World War II and Civil Rights. Mrs. Florence arranged for our students to tour a current exhibit at the Springville Museum of Art relating to discrimination.

WE LOVE OUR TEACHERS!
We enjoyed several fun activities before school let out for Spring Break. Jewelry Making – Star David, a teacher at Cherry Creek Elementary, brought her extensive bead collection and other supplies and each student was able to customize and create a pair of earrings for themselves. Paper Flowers – Mrs. Boothe demonstrated how to make paper flowers out of crepe paper. Then everyone got to work making their own crepe paper flowers. Walk – When the weather is good, we enjoy taking a half-mile walk together.

SCHOOL CELEBRATIONS
Utah Prevention Day gives secondary schools around the state an opportunity to celebrate the prevention lessons that students have learned throughout the year. Teachers can review and reinforce those life skills taught before students leave for the summer. We want to protect our students from the dangers of drugs, under-age drinking, violence, crime and bullying.

For the 2018 season, Lagoon will be introducing the “Summer Fever Fundraiser”. We are hoping to seize the excitement for summer by giving students and families a jump starts on Summer Fun at Lagoon. What does Pi mean? Our math teacher, Mrs. Yazzie, gathered everyone on March 14 (3/14) to review and celebrate mathematics and National Pi Day. We watched a video called Pi Explained in 3:14 and a piece of pie was promised to everyone who could share something they learned about Pi!
Let’s face it, apples are ordinary. The Culinary Management class practiced transforming apples into something amazing – swans! Student Madison K. said, “It was challenging, but fun!” The activity was an opportunity to prepare garnishes in the Produce Unit.
In conjunction with International Women’s Day (a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women) Mrs. Boothe took the opportunity to remind Legacy students about the power of women.
She emphasized the vital role of shaping little people, even though, at times, it is hard and exhausting.
