This fall, Legacy sponsored a volleyball team in the Springville City league. Our roster included Legacy students and other high school age students to make up the team. Mrs. Maria Yazzie, who teaches math and science at Legacy, coached the volleyball team. Coach Yazzie said it was an exciting season! The players worked together well, gave their best effort and improved their skills.

What are Education Support Professionals? They are our administrative professionals, co-teachers, cafeteria staff, custodial staff, maintenance workers, bus drivers, nurses and many others that keep our students safe, healthy and ready to learn. They are critical to the daily operations and feeling of family we have here at Legacy. These friends help us be productive, they bring energy and heart, and our friendships with them help us feel valued. What they bring is invaluable! Our school wouldn't be complete without them. A big thanks to our Legacy Education Support Professionals!

We are focusing on being grateful this month as we approach Thanksgiving. This little craft kept us busy and it was as easy as . . . pie! All it took was a little felt, pom poms, twine and hot glue. Crafting is self-care, because it can give us an opportunity to relax & unwind. It is also an opportunity to talk and develop friendships as our hands are busy making magic. Being creative helps us see things differently and become a better problem solver.

Students learn about the form and function of the human heart through the dissection of sheep hearts. They learn about the different parts of the heart and are able to identify the anatomical structures and compare them to the all of the structural components of the human heart. Thanks Mrs. Yazzie for the hands-on learning opportunity! It's a great day to be a Crusader!

As the pandemic’s unseen costs begin to unfold on the mental health front, some wonder how school children will be impacted. Despite the massive challenge we face, there are growing resources to help families who are struggling.

Virtual Family Mental Health Night–Talk to a Therapist Nebo School District is partnering with The Cook Center for Human Connection to host a free virtual Family Mental Health night on November3, 2021 at 6:00 PM. Participants will hear from a leading clinical psychologist, be able to ask questions, and learn about free resources available.

We had a small Halloween celebration today since the holiday is on the weekend. The students listened to a short presentation about literacy tips for children. Then we invited the children from childcare to join us and we learned a rhyming story called Five Little Pumpkins.  Following story time was the much-awaited Trick-or-Treating through the hall to each classroom.

Everyone loves a field trip! We look forward to our annual visit to the local pumpkin patch.  Children really benefit when exposed to new experiences. This outing includes a petting zoo, playing in the shelled feed corn pit, slides, mazes, hayrides and taking a pumpkin home. There are so many sensory opportunities: the texture of animal fur, the dryness of the cornstalks and hay, and the smooth vegetables.

Nebo’s Fall Break is this week, October 14-15, 2021. We hope you can get outside and enjoy this fall weather and festive activities.
