Volleyball

This fall a group of Legacy students have been competing in volleyball in the Springville City leagues. For many students, this is their first time playing an organized sport. Maria Yazzie, their coach, says she sees improvement. “They went from being afraid to hit the ball, to hitting it, and are now doing a really good job.” In the early games the Legacy score was 2-3 points, but in more recent games the score has jumped to 15 and 18 points. We are thrilled to announce they won their final game of the season!

Mrs. Yazzie also noted that many students make great sacrifices to play volleyball. Some of the challenges they face include work schedules, arranging child care, transportation issues, and illness.

The girls are learning more than how to play volleyball. Mrs. Yazzie says, “They are learning to be responsible to the team, realizing they must depend on each other and work together as a team, and also recognizing that it is more fun when they are positive and encourage each other.”

We are so proud of their dedication and perseverance – way to go Crusaders!
