Our festivities opened with photos of our students and their children to capture these adorable kiddos in their Halloween costumes. Next, we enjoyed song and story time, led by Mrs. Boothe. She read several short Halloween stories sprinkled with literacy tips for children. Some of the stories she shared were Five Little Pumpkins, Room on the Broom, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Spooky Bus, and Who am I? Who Could I Be? Nursery rhymes and finger plays help children with fine motor skills, and with emerging literacy skills such as phonemic awareness and rhyming. It is never too early to read and sing with a child. Following story time was the much awaited Trick-or-Treating through the hall to each classroom. The children were encouraged to thank each person who gave them a treat. Mrs. Boothe continued the tradition of making lunch for everyone. She made her famous Sloppy Joes, accompanied by apples, caramel dip, chips and cupcakes. It was a SPOOK-tacular day!
