Due to the generosity afforded to schools through the Trust Lands Allotment, Legacy purchased 25 new Chromebooks with a charging station that are available for all subjects. Chromebooks are small, basic laptops that connect to the Internet using Google’s Chrome operating system. Students are able to research, collaborate, learn and create using this technology.
This is her first year as a secretary in Nebo School District. She was born and raised in Spanish Fork. She enjoys baseball, softball, camping, and anything outdoors in the summer. Marcy is married and has three kids that are very busy and active in sports. After high school, she earned her Medical Assistant degree. She worked in the medical field for 17 years at an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) doctor’s office. Her long hours prevented her from attending all her kids’ activities.
Constructing this adorable Halloween trio gives a chance to engage creativity, visit with friends and create fun seasonal décor. Beyond the fun aspects, arts and crafts help students develop lifelong characteristics of decision-making, persistence, focus, accountability and confidence. A big shout out to Cindy, Sue, Marcy and Marcy’s husband Matt for their efforts to provide this fun activity!
We went on our annual field trip to Jaker’s Jack-O-Lanterns. There are so many activities to explore. Some took advantage of the hay ride, while others visited the petting zoo. Shelled feed corn in the big corn pit was like a giant sandbox. Parents were encouraged to engage with their children and to do those things that are fun and interesting for the child’s age. New experiences open opportunities to use and explain new words. It was a great day to be a Crusader!
We enjoyed the beautiful weather and gorgeous scenery on our recent field trip to Big Springs Hollow Trail in Provo Canyon. This gentle hike is great for families. Hiking has many benefits! It is a healthy form of stress management. Hiking is good for you physically, but it is also a great way to unplug from technology and bond with family members.
Legacy provides unique opportunities during Parent-Teacher Conference time. Beyond communicating progress, grades and missing assignments, students are able to use the time as an intervention period to get help making up unfinished work. In addition to this assistance, students that attend the conferences are able to reverse three unexcused absences. Finally, families and students that attend the Fall Parent-Teacher Open House can also stop by the lunchroom for a light dinner of soup, bread, salad and dessert. The big question is why would anyone pass up these chances?
Every school practices safety drills. There are four general types: school evacuation; lockout; lockdown; and drop, cover, and hold (earthquake). The purpose is to ensure the safety of students and staff. Drills helps students and staff practice responding to emergency situations. This fall, Mrs. Wilkins was motivated to find a solution to provide blackout shades for our classroom doors. These windows are to be unblocked unless there is a lockdown. During a lockdown, those windows must be covered quickly. The solution was magnetic classroom door window coverings.
