Excitement was in the air May 8th as Legacy’s first annual cooking competition arrived. Students were able to create teams of 4-5 members and planned a meal using a chicken breast. They were given one hour of prep time and were judged on eye appeal, uniqueness, color and texture, aroma and taste, temperature, degree of difficulty, and over-all presentation. The four distinguished judges were Cara Puckett, Susan Boothe, Cindy Thatcher, and Mindy Davies. The judges remarked that all the results were delicious!

Wellness Project: Love Shouldn’t Hurt

Submitted by jane.wilkins on

Mrs. Yazzie arranged for a husband and wife team of guest speakers for our Legacy Wellness Project. Claudia shared her experience of being in an abusive relationship and vocalized these important truths to us:  love shouldn’t hurt; love shouldn’t be controlling; love shouldn’t isolate you; and love shouldn’t get you in trouble with the law! Then, Juan taught us some self-defense moves to get out of potentially harmful situations. Thanks to Claudia & Juan del Prado for sharing these important messages!

Submitted by jane.wilkins on

On this gusty, snowy, cold morning, (brrr!) we were pleasantly surprised by a delivery of doughnuts and hot cocoa! Our secretaries came around to each class with the goodies. Not only did the cocoa warm our hands, but their thoughtfulness also warmed our hearts! We love you, Sharon and Cindy!
