What We Are Learning: Basic Writing Skills

“If you can talk, you can write!” says Kristi Murdock, our English teacher. This photo is our Basic Writing Skills class, where everyone receives a spiral bound notebook and each day receive a story-starter prompt. Students begin with some time to organize their thoughts and then must write for 5 minutes nonstop. Through various assignments, the class reviews the steps of the writing process: Brainstorming, Rough Draft, Editing and Publishing. Mrs. Murdock says it is fun to see the students’ progress!
